Read the manual before the hose

Your warranty depends on how the glass is cleaned.

A folded glass document on white plaster sealed with a disc of blue light like wax.

Washing panels is expected, not forbidden. Washing them the wrong way is the risk. Panel makers write their rules into the installation manual, and at least one ties the warranty to following them.

What puts a warranty at risk?

Habits that break common manual rules, and the damage they can cause.

  • Pressure washing

Can strip coatings and force water past frame seals.

  • Soap and solvents

Some manuals rule out detergents; residue also holds dust.

  • Cold water, hot glass

Both REC and Panasonic ask for water at ambient temperature.

  • Abrasive tools

Scrapers, steel wool and stiff brushes scratch glass for good.

  • Standing on modules

Weight on the glass can crack cells you cannot see.

  • Unapproved add-ons

Clips or guards fixed to frames may not be allowed; ask your installer.

How do I check my manual?

  1. Find the model

Look on your install contract, permit packet or the label on a panel’s back.

  2. Get the manual

Search the maker’s site for the model’s installation or user manual.

  3. Read two sections

Find cleaning or maintenance, then the warranty conditions.

  4. Keep a copy

Save the PDF with your install paperwork, and note who installed the system.

Does your method fit mine?

Our wash follows the strictest common rules: pure water at air temperature, soft brushes, no soap, no pressure washer, nobody on the panels. Send us your panel model when you book and we will read its manual before the visit. If it asks for something we do not do, we will say so.
